Sources & Fact Checking

How JapaDeco chooses sources

JapaDeco uses sources according to the decision a traveler is being asked to make. The closer a fact is to a rule, fare, operating condition, safety issue or eligibility requirement, the more important it is to use the organization that actually controls that fact.

Our preferred source hierarchy is: government and local-government sources; transport, airport and infrastructure operators; official tourism bodies and embassies; the official documentation of the relevant provider; then reputable secondary sources for additional context. A secondary article is not treated as a substitute for the authority responsible for a rule or service.

What we verify

Depending on the guide, fact checking may include route structure, ticket or payment rules, eligibility, operating hours, baggage conditions, reservation requirements, device compatibility, emergency information, cancellation terms, or other details that could materially change a reader’s decision.

We also check whether an article’s recommendation follows from the evidence. A lower headline price is not automatically better if it creates extra transfers, baggage friction or inflexible cancellation. A popular product is not automatically the right option for every traveler. We try to state the conditions under which an option becomes a good or poor fit.

When information changes

Official information can change after publication. Readers should use the official links in a guide to confirm time-sensitive details close to travel, especially prices, timetables, entry conditions, transport disruption, health or safety guidance, and commercial terms. Where live availability is required, JapaDeco does not pretend that a static article can guarantee it.

Errors and conflicting information

If credible sources disagree, we do not silently choose the answer that is most convenient. We look for the controlling authority, note material uncertainty when needed, and avoid presenting an assumption as a confirmed fact. If you find a source that has changed, send the article URL and updated source through our Contact page.
